Youth of Dramapur scored a 2-0 win over Santa Cruz of Tolleaband to emerge champs in Sucaldem Cup football tournament organised by Sucaldem Youth Club at Sucaldem ground, Chinchinim, recently. Dramapur led 1-0 at the breather. Dramapur made their intentions clear as they instantly went on the offensive and it was Dramapur that enjoyed the better of the exchanges in both the sessions.
Dramapur had to wait till midway when Franky Oliveira slotted past the rival keeper with a grounder. Stung by the setback, Tolleaband tried their best and made sporadic raids but their efforts were thwarted by rival defenders.
Crossing over, Dramapur stepped on the pedal with striker Cedric adding his name on the scorer list. On the other hand, Tolleaband tried their best but it yielded no results. Dramapur took home Rs 10,000 while Tolleaband walked away with Rs 7,000 alongwith trophies. Dramapur’s Franky Oliveira and Cedric were adjudged the highest scorer and best player of the finals respectively.
Fr Armando D’Sousa, parish priest, Our Lady of Hope Church, Chinchinim was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of guest of honour, Olwin Antao. Earlier, Hermigildo Soares, vice-president, SucaldemYouth Club welcomed. He later proposed the vote of thanks. - Herald
