Alan Sequeira bags third place getting a Bronze

Goa’s ace rider, Alan Sequeira cemented his place as the State’s numero uno rider as he bagged the third place for the second time in eight days at the 2nd MRF National Supercross Championship in Coimbatore, Sunday.
C D Jinan came first and Harath (both Kerala) took the silver in a hotly contested event. Alan who had also won the bronze in Bangalore last Sunday, had to ward off a stiff challenge from the rest with some riders trying to put concerted blocks before Alan, driving the SAG’s Kawasaki, smartly outraced his opponents to secure a place on the podium and keep Goa’s flag flying high.
Alan said that there were some riders who were intent in blocking him using all unfair means so much so that even some person connected with one racing team tried to block him by transgressing into the track.
“I surmounted all obstacles and kept my focus far from being distracted. It is unfortunate that unfair and unsporting means were being resorted to, to deny me a podium finish,” pointed out Alan.
Meanwhile, Alan was presented the 2010 National Supercross Trophy for emerging National champ in 2010 by FMSCI Chairman Shyam Kothari.
Alan became the first Goan to earn the coveted National supercross title with the SAG providing full backing to the ace rider. His sterling performance earned him Government’s recognition with the Goa Assembly praising him for being Goa’s first National champ and offering a new racing bike so that he could continue with his racing career as he was using an old and worn out bike which had to be replaced.
The Government sanctioned a grant of Rs 5 lakh with Alan contributing the rest for purchasing the costly racing bike. -  Heraldo
