It took a first half strike from Khaled Musher Ismail of Duhok Sports Club to send Dempo Sports Club packing out of AFC Cup in a one-legged round of 16 tie here on Tuesday.
Duhok played the ball forward and one of their forwards tried to make space when he was fouled on the edge of the area. Khalid stepped up and smacked one into the top corner right between goalkeeper Subashish Roy Chowdhary and the defender on the far post.
Ranti Martins came close to equalising with his heavy first touch, but a Duhok player snatched the ball after Ranti was one-on-one with the keeper.
A response from Dempo was expected in the second period but it never came. In the second half, Duhok dominated possession and closed the game down. They did create several chances late on only to squander them. A super defending in latter stages meant Duhok held on for a famous 1-0 victory. - Heraldo
