CALCUTTA: Mohun Bagan came back to winning ways after five consecutive stalemates after they successfully scored a 2-1 victory over Viva Kerala in a round 17 match played at the Salt Lake Stadium here today. Muritala Ali and Jose Barreto scored the goals for Mohun Bagan, while Sabeeth scored a late consolation goal for the Kerala outfit.
Viva Kerala looked in better touch in the initial part of the match as Bello Rasaq’s head narrowly missed the target. Mohun Bagan made the first positive movement in the 18th minute. Captain Ishfaq Ahmed initiated the move but Snehasish with open space in front of him failed to deliver a good cross towards Muritala. N P Pradeep was shown yellow card for a foul on Ishfaq Ahmed, though nothing resulted from the free-kick.
