VASCO: In his endeavour to encourage sports activities among the youth, the deputy speaker of Goa Legislative Assembly, Mr Mauvin Godinho distributed sports kit to nearly twelve registered clubs from Dabolim and Cortalim constituencies on Saturday.
The sports kit distribution function was organised at deputy speakers office located at Upsanagar, Sancoale and was attended by sarpanch of Cortalim Village Panchayat, Mr Anthony Miranda, president of Chicalim Villagers Action Committee for Development, Mr Ligorio Monteiro, SAG cricket coach, Mr. Virendra Naik, Mr Sandeep Bandekar and others.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Godinho said that the Chief Minister, Mr Digambar Kamat had announced schemes for the youth in his budget speech and that encouraging the youth for sports activities is one of the major steps taken by the state government. He further said that he is keen on constructing a jogger’s park in Chicalim and also a swimming pool, which would benefit a large number of people especially the youth and kids in Vasco, Dabolim, Cortalim and Mormugao constituencies
