The Services team claimed the 38th Boxing Federation Monnet Cup 2011 with 40 points in its kitty in the team championship organised by Goa Amateur Boxing Association at Calangute Association ground, Sunday. Haryana secured the second place with 20 points while Uttarakhand claimed the third place with 13 points. Goan boxers secured three bronze medals.
Services boxer, Debendro Singh won the best boxer award in the light fly weight category while Naresh Kumar (Chandigarh) won the most promising and talented boxer award. Naveen Balhera (Haryana) was adjudged the best losing boxer award. Purshottam Phadte (Goa) was awarded the best referee award.
Victoria Fernandes, MLA, St Cruz was the chief guest and gave away the prizes to the winners in the presence of Filipe Dias, N S Rawat, Lenny D’Gama and Clyde Lobo w.
