Dempo will meet Viva Kerala

PANJIM: Title contenders Dempo Sports Club will eye full points against Viva Kerala in their round 21 encounter of the I-League at Nehru stadium, Fatorda, on Friday. The match kicks off at 4.15pm.  The defending champions are high on confidence, especially with an imposing 4-2 win coming their way in the previous game against Chirag United away in Kolkata, last Sunday.
The Dempo-Viva clash in the first leg in February in Kerala also yielded a positive result for the Goan giants with a 2-0 verdict. The Viva tie is important for Armando Colaco’s boys as they would love to get a firm win under their belt on the morrow before heading to Pune on Sunday for next Tuesday’s (April 12) crucial AFC Cup match against Uzbekistan giants Nasaf.
“A victory against Viva will certainly keep the team’s spirits high, especially with the AFC Cup tie next week against a tough team in Uzbek’s Nasaf. We are going all out for a win tomorrow,” stated Dempo coach Armando Colaco on the eve of the Viva Kerala match.
Divulging on next week’s AFC Cup tie, Armando informed that Nasaf will present a very tough challenge as thus far Uzbek outfit has proved to be the strongest with a win each in home and away ties.
“There’s no doubt we will have a tough time against Nasaf in Pune and we will have to formulate a special strategy to counter them. They have a player who is very good at scoring with header and therefore Dempo needs to curb the set-pieces and shunt goal-mouth crosses,” Armando added. “For the moment we are concentrating on the Viva game,” Armando signed off.
