Goa face Services in Santosh

Football fans were sad that Goa started their Santosh Trophy National football championship on a dismal note with Railways registering a facile 3-0 victory at Guhuwati on Friday.  Goa next meet Services on May 22 with the later having drawn 2-2 with strong Punjab in the first Pool B quarter-final league match.
Yesterday, after Railways had gone one up in the 3rd minute through Riju, Goa were expected to put up a strong fight, but the Goa lads failed to recover from the early setback although they got few opportunities to equalise in the first session.
It was Railways goalkeeper V P Satish Kumar who blocked some attempts by the Goa strikers but overall Railways impressed with their game plan and fitness levels which were far superior to Goans.
It was in the 50th minute that Railways doubled the lead through Balraj and the same striker rounded off the tally in the 80th minute.  Goa will have to do something extraordinary when they face Services who are known for their robustness and hard tackling game. - Sports Reporter DLP
