Dempo, Sporting excite in six-goal thriller

MAPUSA: Hanslum Furtado’s first session hat-trick went in vain as Sporting Club de Goa rallied in the second half to share the spoils with Dempo Sports Club following a 3-3 draw in the GFA’s U-18 First Division League at Duler grounds, on Saturday.
In a contrasting encounter, Dempo were rampant throughout the first session with Hanslum in the thick of action.  The lanky striker opened the scoring in the 11th minute with a fine placement before doubling the tally in the 25th minute with a scorching grounder.
And to cap off his fine performance, Hanslum brought out his hat-trick with a strike three minutes from the lemon break, posing an uphill task for Sporting.
And to make matters worse for Sporting, their coach Franky Fernandes was sent off the field for abusing the referee, but on the contrary the incident was just what the doctor ordered as defender Mario Fernandes pulled a goal back two minutes later.
In the 64th minute, substitute Melwin Fernandes combined well with Aslon Oliviera who made no mistake in slotting the ball home.
Ten minutes later, a fine move involving Aslon and Rostov Fernandes saw the latter deliver a cross toMelvin who after an intelligent control smacked the ball home.
n another encounter, Goa United Sports Academy, Calangute recorded a 3-0 win over Brasil Futebol Academia at Poriat grounds. Vikram Singh struck a fine barce, while Lestan Martins was the other scorer for the Calangute outfit.
