Goa Velha prove it in sudden death

Goa Velha Sports Club proved it in sudden death to score a 7-6 win over Parish Youth, Nuvem and stormed into the semi-finals of All-Goa Fr Bento Martins memorial inter-village football tournament, organised by St Ann Cultural Troupe, at Agonda ground, on Saturday.
Goa Velha Sports Club were leading 1-0 at the breather.  Goa Velha enjoyed slight edge in the opening session and created many forays in the rival territory. They were rewarded soon after kick off when Newton Pereira bulge the net from close distance.
At the other hand, Parish Youth tried their best and had few scoring opportunities but their forwards faltered at crucial moments.  Crossing over, Goa Velha enjoy the ball possessions and made sporadic raids into the rival territory but their efforts were nullified by Parish Youth defenders.
Midway in the second half, Parish Youth put up a better display and created many openings inside the rival territory and their efforts bore the fruits when Joe Colaco neutralised the lead with stiff grounder. 
In the regulation time, both the teams were held to a 1-1 draw. In the tie-breaker also failed to register result. So later in sudden death, Goa Velha showed some extra vigour to emerge victors. - Herald
