Goa Velha Sports Club got the better of Vagator Parish Youth Sports Club 3-2 to move into the quarter-finals of Fr Chico Bayside Cup inter-village football tournament organised by Candolim Sports Club at Dr Gustavo Monteiro Stadium, Candolim, Tuesday.
Goa Velha forged ahead in the 15th minute through Joyston Lourenco off a solo effort. Chittur Naik doubled the lead for Goa Velha in the 25th minute off Anthony’s pass. Down by two goals, Vagator fought back and reduced the margin in 30th minute through Joseph Rodrigues.
Changing over, Vagator came on level terms in the 32nd minute through Julius D’Sousa off Joseph Noronha’s cross. Chittur Naik netted the winner for Goa Velha in the 37th minute.
