Curtorim Gymkhana prevailed over Parish Youth, Nuvem 6-5 via the tie-breaker to storm into the final of All-Goa Ambelim Cup inter-village football tournament, organised by Ambelim Sports Club, at Ambelim ground.
The teams were tied 1-1 at full time. They displayed an attacking football and kept the spectators on their toes. Midway in the opening session, Parish Youth struck into the rhythm and found success when Remy Colaco bulge the net.
Crossing over, Parish Youth continued to dictate terms and galvanised their attacks with their midfielders and strikers working in tandem to put the rival defence into disarray.
With match drifting towards Nuvem, Curtorim Gymkhana made last ditch efforts and bore the fruits when Pascoal Fernandes neutralised the lead with snap shot.
In the tie-breaker, John Mascarenhas, Merwyn Colaco, Rio Mascarenhas, Velson Fernandes and Milagres Fernandes were on target for Curtorim Gymkhana while Sebyton Colaco, Remy Colaco, Anthony Colaco and Antonio Colaco converted for Parish Youth. Curtorim Gymkhana will now meet Carmona Sports Club in the final on June 5. - Herald
