Candolim Sports Club got better of St Sebastian, Fatorda 6-4 via the tie-breaker after both teams played out a 1-all draw to move into quarter-finals of Calangute Panchayat Cup All-Goa inter-village football tournament, at Poriat ground, Calangute, on Saturday.
St Sebastian started on a promising note and forged ahead in the 24th minute of play through Danny Dias. Stung by the reverse, Candolim regrouped themselves and restored parity immediately through Roy Das. Thereafter, both the teams failed to score.
The winners were decided on penalties. Candolim kept their nerves to prevail over Fatorda 5-3. Samir Naik, Shankar, Manuel, Joelif and Stanley converted for Candolim while Rock, Valent and Vincent found the mark for Fatorda. - Herald
