Dempo aim for victory

Defending champions Dempo Sports Club will go all out for three points when they take on seventh place Pune FC in a crucial I-League match at Balewadi Sports Complex, Pune, on Friday at 6 p.m.  “The team is in good spirits. The boys know they have to win this match and are determined to give their best,” said chief coach, Armando Colaco.
“I told the boys not to bother about the title and have instructed them to give their best since we are playing for a win. We have psychological advantage over the rivals cause we have defeated them in the first leg, which was a home match. We have been working on all areas to ensure good results tomorrow,” Colaco stated.
“We will not take Pune lightly as they may try desperately to win this match to improve their standings, but this also happens to be our best chance to finish off well,” Colaco added.
There was good news for Colaco. John Dias, defenders Sameer Naik, Debarata Roy and midfielder Clifford Miranda, who had all missed the last encounter against Mumbai FC due to suspension, will return to the squad.
Pune coach Derrick Pereira said, “Both the teams play a good brand of football and that makes for an exciting clash. Dempo are a strong side, so we cannot afford to relax at any point of the match. More importantly we should be tactically disciplined. I am confident my boys will give a good account of themselves on Friday,” Derrick concluded.
Except for defender Gurjinder Singh and striker Edmar Figuerira, who has a double booking and hamstring injury, Pune will be at full strength. - Herald
