MAPUSA: Nagoa Sports Club worked their way to a stunning 6-5 win via tie-breaker over Sangolda Lightning Club to lay their hands on the Lakhanpal Novino Gold Soccer organised by Candolim Sports Club and played at Dr Gustavo Monteiro grounds, Candolim, on Saturday.
This was the first of the two inter-village finals the two clubs met in a span of two days and Nagoa held their nerves in the penalty shoot-out scoring through Stanley Coutinho, Lawrence Rodrigues, Saish Palyekar, Pramod Mardolkar, Raghuvir Salgaocar and Gauresh Naik.
Rakshak Naik, Agnelo Quadros, Swanand Naik, Washington Pereira and Joseph D’costa were the scorers for Sangolda. Nagoa Sports Club received winners cash prize of ` 30,000 while Sangola had to content for ` 20,000.
The chief guest Mr Vishal Singh, GM Vivanta Holiday Village along with guests of honour Mr Fermino Fernandes, sarpanch Candolim VP and Mr Ramkrishna Kerker, former sarpanch, gave away the prizes.
Following individual prizes were awarded: Best Goalkeeper—Nandan Simipuruskar (Nagoa), Best Defender—Amar Halankar (Sangolda), Best Medio—Lloyd Mascarenhas (Sangolda) and Best Striker—Saish Palyekar (Nagoa).
