PWD Beats Directorate of Agriculture

PANJIM: An unbeaten 60 by Mayur Naik and a useful 24 by Sameer Chodankar helped PWD beat Directorate of Agriculture by 15 runs to sail into the finals of the State Level Inter–Govt Dept T20 season ball cricket tournament organised by PWD Sports & Recreation Club in association with SAG, on Saturday.
In the finals they will meet SAG who beat Directorate of Art & Culture by 91 runs.
Batting first, PWD scored 156 for 8 in 20 overs and then restricted Directorate of Agriculture to 141 for 6 in 20 overs. Gurudas Gaonkar of Agriculture played a fine knock of unbeaten 58 but his efforts fell short by 15 runs. Naresh Parsekar (2-14) was the most successful bowler for PWD. Mayur Naik of PWD was adjudged the man-of-the-match.
In the other semi-finals, SAG thrashed Directorate of Art & Culture by 91 runs, thanks to an enterprising 71 by Anil Arolkar and a well-made 30 by Sandip Naik, who also picked up 4 wickets to share the man-of-the-match award. Finals will be played on Sunday May 8 at 2 pm.
