Praises pour in for Colaco from fellow Goenkars

Mahesh Lotlikar, assistant coach, Pune Football Club and former India defender has lauded the All India Football Federation’s decision to appoint Dempo Sports Club chief coach, Armando Colaco as the new Team India coach.
Colaco came with a tremendous reputation as a player and a coach and his management skills are very important too. “You need a combination of all three and Colaco certainly has what it takes,” Lotlikar said.
Severino Fernandes, SAG coach in his praises stated that “If anyone deserves that high profile job, then it can be none other than Armando. He is the only India coach who had the necessary qualities. He has tremendous knowledge and experience.”
“It is indeed good news and Armando made every Goan proud with this fabulous achievement. He’s selection is not surprising considering his success as Dempo coach, but he should be given the necessary time to provide the results and he will do justice to his job,” remarked Bobby Crasto, former footballer, Fatorda.
“Colaco fully deserves this opportunity, it a huge boost for Goan football. We have waited pretty long for this to happen. Armando will do a great job just like the way he has handled Dempo. He is the right choice,” mentioned Lawrence Beber Gracias, from Benaulim and a regular football fan at Nehru Stadium, Fatorda.
“I am very happy for Armando for getting selected the India football coach. He has done wonders for Dempo and no doubt he will emulate the same feats with India. His appointment ecstatic news for even Goan football fan,” voiced Afonso Parkhot alias Hosak, a die-hard Dempo fan from Agasaim.
“As a coach he has achieved and won everything in Indian football. He had to be given this job and now that he has got it, he will prove his abilities. We are happy about this great news,” said Remy Fernandes from Dubai.
Alex Dias, sports secretary, Curtorim Gymkhana and former footballer congratulated Armando on opening a new chapter in Indian football. “He has become the first Goan to occupy the hot seat. It is a proud moment for Curtorkars and Goans. It showed that Goans are capable for any hot seat,” remarked Dias.
Former Sesa Goa footballer and team manager, Churchill Brothers added, “I am sure people will respect him immensely for what he achieves as India coach.”
Anthony Costa, sports secretary, Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club hailed the appointment of Armando as India coach and wished him good luck for his future endeavors.
Nazareth Gomes, president, Snows Football Academy, Raia congratulated Armando for his appointment as India coach. “Under Colaco’s tutelage, Dempo has become the power house in Indian football,” Gomes stated.
Oscar Martins, treasurer, AVC Cultural Association congratulated Armando for his achievement in Indian football. “He deserves this honour for his self belief and motivation to players, something that’s always beyond his expectations,” Martins concluded. - Sports Reporter DLP
