Sangolda Lightning beat Wilred Leisure 2-0

MAPUSA: Sangolda Lightning Club got the better of Wilred Leisure Sports Club by a 2-0 margin to enter the next round of the Lakhanpal Novino Gold Soccer organised by Candolim Sports Club played at Dr Gustavo Monteiro grounds, Candolim on Wednesday.
Wilred were put on the back-foot right from the start as Sangolda winger Joseph D’costa truck a home a wicked 20-yard free-kick in the first minute itself.
The Curtorim outfit however came close to wiping of the deficit on a couple of occasions but, Nickson Casthana and Royton Carniero failed to get their attempts on target. Curtorim’s inability to transform attempts into goals led to their downfall as Mandar Desai doubled Sangolda’s lead in the 45th minute.
In the match played on Tuesday, hosts Candolim Sports Club recorded a solitary goal win over Nerul Sports Club to move into the next round. In a dull encounter, winger Klieber D’Sousa’s 40th minute strike was all that separated the two teams.
