Dempo face Mohun Bagan

PANJIM: “The boys are all geared up to face Mohun Bagan and they know the importance of that match on Thursday as dominating and getting a positive result out of that game is crucial to our chances of being back in contention for the I-League title,” asserted Dempo SC head coach Armando Colaco on Tuesday.
Dempo take on Bagan at Nehru stadium, Fatorda on March 10 in a round 18 match but Armando sounded confident that his players are keyed up for the big game.
“If we look at the previous performances leading up to the Bagan contest, Dempos have struck a winning cord. They beat JCT 2-1 in I-league in Gurgaon, and set up the same score line in an AFC Cup match against Al Tilal (Yemen) in Pune, and also won 1-0 in Kolhapur against ONGC. So looking at these results we are confident of putting up a good performance to ensure that we keep our I-League aspirations intact,” Armando informed The Navhind Times on Tuesday at the Dempo Club house.
The high profile coach, who has been India’s most successful trainer over the past decade, added that a win over Bagan will certainly boost the team’s morale as they prepare to face Lebanon’s Al Ansar’s challenge next in an away AFC Cup on March 15.  “It is very important that we pocket a win against Bagan and I am sure home advantage will bail us out against Bagan at Fatorda,” Armando summed up, hoping to maintain the winning momentum ahead of the AFC Cup tie next Tuesday.
