KJ’s Basketeers retained their title defeating Margao Basketeers 52-44 in 19th All-Goa Aliens Basketeers basketball tournament at Fr Benedict Furtado memorial sports complex, Panjim, Thursday. Patrick Silveira (14), Akash Madgaonkar (11) and Shiva (11) combined well and top scored for KJ’s.
As usual, Spencer Viegas and veteran Ivan Barretto played well for Margao scoring 13 and 11 points respectively. KJ’s Patrick was adjudged the player of the finals while YMCA’s Francisco de Sousa emerged most promising player.
Milton Fernandes, assistant director of sports, Goa University was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of guests of honour, Fr Wilfred Fernandes, administrator, Don Bosco and Angelo Albuquerque, manager, Sporting Clube de Goa.
